Author and Illustrator Visit

Penguins overtook the Mengle Memorial Library!

The Brockway library hosted illustrator Wendell Minor and author Florence Minor of If You Were A Penguin. If You Were A Penguin is the featured book for the 2009 “Pennsylvania One Book One Child” program.

Over 300 children participated in two events to learn more about penguins, writing books, and the importance of reading. Children were encouraged to follow their dreams and to find enjoyment in reading. Wendell wanted children to know, “the most powerful computer is between your ears, and the only software needed is 26 letters.”

Newly released from Middleton Books, "Heartwood" is a groundbreaking story of intrigue and enduring love among the timberlands, lumber towns, and industrial burgs of northern Pennsylvania.
