Kindergarten Bus Trip

Join your Kindergartener on their first bus ride!  Meet their teacher and see their classroom!

The Mengle Memorial Library in Brockway will be hosting the annual Kindergarten Bus Trip on Thursday, August 23rd for Kindergarten students at the Brockway Area Elementary School.  The bus will be leaving the library at 10:00 am.  Please come a few minutes early so you do not miss your ride.

The bus will depart from the library and go to the school.  This event is held on the same day as the School Tour for incoming Kindergarteners and their parents.  The bus will return everyone back to the library after the School Tour is over.

This will give your child an opportunity to adjust to the new experience of riding the bus before the first day of school.  Please register at the library or by calling 814-265-8245.

Genealogy Program

Tuesday, July 24th at 6 pm

Learn how to use digitized versions of :
   · The Brockway Record
   · The Punxsutawney Spirit, and
   · The Reynoldsville Star.

Find out how the digitized newspapers make searching for your genealogy information easier.

In addition, the program will also talk about the website Heritage Quest and how members of the Jefferson County Library System have free access to Census records, PERSI, the US Serial Set, and more.

A special thank you goes to The Punxsutawney Spirit and Indiana University of Pennsylvania who helped make the digitization of The Punxsutawney Spirit possible.  This digitization project was funded by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) through a program called the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) through the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
